Sororicide - Demo 1

Masterful demo: a true gem - 89%

The_spine, November 26th, 2009

The last material this band would record before their surprising return in 2009, it also represents their best material to date. Captured primitively, the production is dry, guitars thinly recorded, but undeniably suffocating. The classic aura of death that makes death metal in the obscure vien such as this, is hear in full form. What sets this apart from their seminal work “The Entity” is the more focused song writing, diverse riffs, and a savage combative force of spirit previously lacking from their other works. The music lies somewhere between early Immolation and Autopsy, with distinct jagged, corkscrew like rhythms that obviously were inspired by Deicide’s “Legion”

Total rhythmic carnage combines with sinister death metal tremolo creating a controlled crawling dynamic aura of death. Each song here is memorable, dynamic, and rewarding. Life Bellow uses riffs with twisting descending patterns and rhythmic logic to create a maze like journey that perfectly merges into “Within the Depths”. A classic death metal offering – barbarism and twisted pathways into subconscious dementia. Slow paced, and features creative melodic structuring as well as a mesmerizing, beautifully captured solo. The demo ends with might possibly be the short lived bands best work – “Drown Your Soul” witch sees experimentation with a mournful clean vocal introduction. This is quickly replaced by savage thunderous occult death metal. Each riff here is intelligently connected to the last, moving like a strain of thought.

Although only 3 tracks, this functions like all classic death metal demos – each song informs the other, every element brought together and it becomes not a collection of songs, but a single incarnation. For fans of cult, obscure death metal this is a must have and comes HIGHLY recommended.
