Not entirely convinced on this band's inclusion, but if they are to stay; the genre will need some retooling.

Not sure if this is a re-recorded demo from the newly added https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sy ... 3540534786 or not.

I did, but can't agree with it, because:
1. Those two separate singles were not provided in the submission form.
2. And second, what is more important, is that the second track available at that moment - "Magenta" - is not really metal track (https://bjorko.bandcamp.com/track/magenta-feat-mariska), so those two tracks should not have been a reason for accepting the band at that moment.

ah well... Fair enough, I'll have a talk with the mod who approved it and we'll figure something out.

It was a mistake on the mod's part; they only came across it in the queue when the full-length was already out. Sorry, I'll give you points for your rejected sub.

Cocytus is at least borderline thrash/crust, but no one that reviewed it felt that the band overall was metal enough to stay, especially with the other release considered. This one will be nuked.

That one's going to stay. It's a little stylistically blurred at times with Japan's Gothic rock craze of the late 80s/90s, but the demo and first album have more than enough metal to warrant the band's spot on the archive, and it's definitely not hard rock only. The band turned extremely soft later career, but that has no bearing on their early material. Thank you though.

Deleted Abysmal Desolation. At least two of the four tracks on their only demo were stolen from another band, plus apparently the guy lied about the original release date. Too fishy to keep.

This entry should be deleted: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sn ... 3540503570
- It turned out to belong to the New Jersey band by the same name who are listed on the site, though for a while it had been thought to be by a different band. The verification is that the song "You'll Never Know" on "The Power of Metal" is the same song as "You'll Never Know What Hit Ya" on the NJ band's "N.-I.-4-N.-I." demo (just an earlier recording of it).
Thanks.

Hi guys
Just out of curiosity, why was this band accepted now?
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sp ... 3540534953

I'm pretty sure I submitted them not too long ago and it was rejected for "not being a metal band".
Just curious about this new submission and what made the mods change their minds about this band in particular. Thanks.

Are you sure? It wasn't blacklisted (which it almost always is if the rejection is because of the music), nor is there an appeal thread, nor can I find your submission in the deletion history/your edit history. Can you link to your rejected submission?

Well that's weird. I'm pretty sure I attempted to submit a Belgian metalcore band which was similar to this one. I delete most of my rejected submissions so I can't confirm. I might have confused myself then.
Thanks for the attention!

I mean, it's entirely possible someone forgot to blacklist it. It's happened before.

Can't comment on your case, but with this new submission the moderator involved thought it was acceptable. Probably don't need to tell you that opinions can differ especially on metalcore, even among the mods sometimes. :) For the borderliners we usually attempt to reach a consensus of multiple mods, but sometimes it's just one staffer making the decision.

Criminally Insane (Syracuse, New York), added today, turned out to be 2 digital releases that had already come out under the name Divine Excrement. Should be deleted until they have a release unique to that name. Thanks.

Early heavy metal/hard rock in the Scorpions/Accept vein. It's important that bands like this stay. I've seen others deleted and didn't agree but am not going to nitpick about every one. This isn't 'heavy metal by definition of someone that got into it in the 21st century and doesn't really get the early stuff' archives. Bands like this not only have riffs, but are historically important.

It turns out this band was actually an insignificant name change for a band that is already listed. I didn't notice before I submitted it.

Added by lunaboy probably without samples. I found an old song https://youtu.be/Fv3hFXX3TWI?si=PJnNA5yxwGcjoQMt and its definitely not metal. Whatever available on Bandcamp is definitely not metal either.

Deleted, thanks. Ironic that lunaboy, who regularly used to raise a big stink about how we have so many non-metal bands listed, is responsible for adding crap like that.

Not sure why this was accepted. sounds 100% like The Acacia Strain (like before they experimented with sludge/doom metal and werent allowed on the site)
AKA: it's a bunch of fretless chugging and zero riffs

Spartak Motor Sound (Italy) - Rock.

- Another that was added during v1 of the site. The demo includes both songs from the 7" and several more songs, none touching on listed genre heavy metal:

Arlem -
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Arlem/111374
- 2007 entry sourced from problematic "list of Italian bands with one demo tape" on the expired Strillostrano page. A lot of these were added to the site that year, and many have been deleted because of typos, band wasn't really metal after finding their music, etc. Also possible that it's a typo of this band:
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Alem/3540496835
Has been added to the research list.

Hansel & Grendel -
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/He ... del/111461 (rock: https://heavymetalrarities.com/forum/vi ... #gsc.tab=0
Spoiler: show
https://www.mediafire.com/file/41vuyv3fmlwth6p
Also, their name is Hansel & Grendel, so that is the band name that should be blacklisted. Hensel & Grendel is a typo on the Strillostrano list that has been listed wrong on M.A. since 2007.

These 3 bands have been added to the research list, and are awaiting both samples and verification of release. The first 2, especially 'Disaster' are also extremely vague and aren't a lot to go off of as far as matching up information about a band with that name to the entry. Awaiting deletion.
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Battlefield/111402
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Disaster/111429 (possible misspelling of listed band Desaster)

Debauchery (France) -
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Debauchery/32242
- mentioned demo "Licence to Kill" is by the UK band:
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/D ... ill/443469
When this was added to the site in 2004 there were a lot more errors on trade lists, and less publicly known about obscure bands like this. Wrong country and incorrectly merged discographies were much more common.
