I write in a very literal manner, because at the end of the day it's a review, not an Edwin Morgan poem. The stuff I produce is simplistic and generally not that great, but hopefully gives an insight into what to expect from an album.

Also my scoring system is weird in that the numbers aren't always the best representation of how good the album is as my expectations compared to how it actually turns out play a part in this. Naturally an album rated 20% higher than another is likely better (in my view anyway), but this may not be the case for albums say 5% apart. Hopefully the review content gives an explanation as to the score I've given each release I've reviewed.

You might notice that in my reviews I tend to namedrop the same few bands/artists over and over again. These include - but are not limited to - Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Infinite Tales, Karkaos, Krimh, Mortal Love and The Project Hate MCMXCIX. Like I said this doesn't cover everything, but you get the point. The observant among you will notice that all of these bands fall into the list of my favourite bands.

I'm also Scottish (in case you couldn't tell by my name) and proud. For those that don't know what Scotland is, it's the bit of Britain that hates the other parts of it (and to be fair pretty much everywhere else in the world too) where all the men dance around in brightly coloured skirts - known locally as kilts - and the air is punctuated constantly with the tortured sound of a dying animal - known locally as the bagpipes. Said dying animal is probably also one of the ingredients in haggis.
