Favourite metal genre(s):
thrash, doom, classic

I'm into the old school (80's, early 90's) era thrash, speed, and early death metal scenes, having grown up during that era. With that said, it takes a lot to get me excited about the newer stuff, as I seem to be kind of jaded in my old age. But there are also a lot of great bands out right now that I enjoy discovering.

I tend to be partial to THRASH- anything fast, heavy, hyper, and intense, and this trancends both hardcore punk and metal. In fact many of my favorate thrash-core bands (e.g Septic Death, Anti-Cimex) fall too close to the punk side of things to be technically appropriate for this site. As some of you guys may know, I don't particularly like groove/tough guy metal, or goregrind and genres related to that sound. But even then, I am open to appreciating bands from those genres if they are genuinely good- like for example early Carcass.

I tdid take my name from the French power-metal band, but I was never actually a member of that band- I just liked the name. The band itself was decent but not, (in my opinion) that earth-shatteringly great.

I will also stick to reviewing the more obscure stuff. To me, it doesnt serve much purpose to add yet another review of, say, some Metallica, Celtic Frost, or Mayhem release that pretty much everyone has already heard (and/or already knows if they like or not.) This isnt to be elitist, but merely to avoid being redundant, if you get my point. As I've gotten older, my tastes have naturally broadened, but metal, and thrash in particular, will always be my first love.
