Been listening to true metal since 2003 and just recently made a registration to review cds. While I listen to whatever I choose simply because it sounds appealing to my ear, I do not listen to any music that growling, grunts or lyrics that I cannot decipher. I just don't dig it. I also do not listen to black metal.
I also am a guitarist. I did the whole band thing about a hundred times and
while I am a diehard metalhead I can never see myself making a living out of it mainly because I want it as a hobby. I have been playing since 2002 and play out of Marshal MG, and B.C. Deceiver (special addition model which looks similar to a Assasin but, it has a snake design). I enjoy mastering new songs and as well as writing and mixing my own stuff. I am a sucker for a blazing solo and complicated musical songs.
Mainly a guy who is stuck in the 80's but I do like some of the recent stuff but, consider myself very selective. However, I do listen to other genres besides metal. Here is a list of some metal bands (I will also include hard rock that may [depending on opinion] be considered metal.) Favs first.
Megadeth, Dream Evil, Dokken, Judas Priest, Metallica (do I need to say just the old stuff), Iron Maiden, Black Label Society, Dream Theater, Yngwie Malmsteen, Def Leppard, Anthrax, Exodus, Savatage, Children of Bodom, Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N Roses, Testament, Overkill, Slayer, Van Halen, Poison, Stryper, Black Sabbath, Warrant, Blind Guardian, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Annihilator, Exciter, Iced Earth, Stratovarious, Soilwork, Dio and much more.
