Ignore the idiots who give undeserving frothing praise to the 'mainstream' Metal bands, such as Metallica, Sepultura, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, and so forth; there are much better Metal bands out there to listen.

MY list of classics:

Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death: This is THE Thrash album to end all Thrash Albums. If you think there's a Thrash album that can surpass this one, you must be a smart-assed poser.

Heathen - Breaking The Silence: Just about the best Speed/Thrash album in Metal history. Take that Metallica and Megadeth.

(currently finding more albums to make it into this list.)

Most overrated albums in Metal history:

Any of Metallica's albums: I don't care if you give praise to the supposedly first ever Thrash band, they were rather substandard in their early years and transcended into suckitude after 1984. They are by far the most overrated Metal band in history.

Any of Megadeth's albums: Sure, they released 4 decent albums but the rest after Countdown To Extinction was shit.

Any of Slayer's albums: The hype surrounding their albums is absolutely, and incredibly horrible. Some say that this band is THE Thrash band to end all Thrash bands, especially after releasing Reign In Blood, which I believe to be the most overrated Thrash album of all time. No, they are not the Thrash band to end all Thrash bands, and there are better Thrash, if not Metal, bands out there, so shut up with your stupid fanaticisms for your stupidly precious Thrash band. Only one album of this band was worth listening to, and that is South of Heaven. I feel that this album is the only album that was decent enough to give a listen to. If you think Dark Angel's Darkness Descends was an overrated-to-the-core album, think again shitheads. Reign In Blood is far more overrated than that album.

Any of Sepultura's albums: Just because Brazil gave birth to its most successful Metal band out of its country doesn't mean the band is that good to begin with. Sepultura is as overrated as Slayer is.

Most "Metalheads" listen to mainstream Metal bands and that isn't a good thing. If they think underground Metal bands are bad, then they really are making fools of themselves. Sure, underground isn't always better but look at it this way, most underground Metal bands are far better than the Metal bands that most so-called Metalheads listen to nowadays, like Metallica and Slayer.
