Here we're talking about an underrated Vancouver deathgrind band that's been around for quite some time, yet is still far less popular than Crackwhore or Abuse, let's say. Sure everyone knows them, but why the lack of discussion?
Anyway, Zuckuss is "Star Wars inspired Porno Grind". My first time seeing them open for Abuse with Descention and Allfather was a good time. Being at the show with a good buzz made me really interested to hear them, as I had heard good things from those who discussed them in the scene. I was fucking blown away, I gave the horns several times to those motherfuckers! The stage act definitely wasn't overdone, so it was humorous, but the music was still solid and tight.
This album starts off brutal and with a good fart joke altered from a Zuckuss classic. The music is brutal and tight, also considering they haven't written an album for a few years. Although my preference is to "Tittyfucked by Tauntaun", I enjoy this album just as much for listening. The recording is solid and not lacking in the right components. The vocals are harsh and brutal and so is the riffing. There is definite vocal range, especially with the cut-off squeals. I could say the vocals are a stand-out for the band, but everything is for the most part.
Samples are apparent in most of the songs, so the humour is always presented through the hilarioius samples, followed by more shrieks, gutterals, and lots of blast-beats with good deathgrindy breakdowns. I'm brutally honest when I say that other stuff bores me far more than this. It's a solid fucking album all around, not to mention a fantastic display of talent. The standout tracks would have to be "Weequay's Ricewine", "Rancor Rimjob", and "Stool Stank Tool". Go buy and overplay it, this is definitely on the top of the "most brutal 2004 records".
