Zenith - Evilution

Average experimentalists - 65%

Zenith hails from Denmark and plays experimental metal. It would maybe be more correct to say that they play ordinary metal with experimental vocals, as it seems like the only one really doing the experiments is the lead singer Jay. Jay does a good job, but the music just seems a bit boring, especially when they lack of the needed experimentations. There are solos in track nr. 2 and three, but besides that, the music seems to just follow the line of the same kind of modern and ordinary metal, in the vein of the metal's "top of the pop"-bands (read nu metal-bands).
Beside the negative about this demo, I'll have to say that especially the first track, "Give Me 'Till Tomorrow", is very good and really worth to listen to. The two other tracks, "1-2-3 Imprisoned For Life" and "What Da Ya Want" lacks of the same quality and Zenith should try to do a lot more like "Give Me 'Till Tomorrow", as it's the most experimental and also the best written song. Now we talk about writing songs: The lyrics are ridiculous! They're just like taken out of some shitty rap metal-bands' songs. Come on, just look at a title like "What Da Ya Want"!!! Zenith should really pull themselves together at that point.
All in all it's an okay demo. "Give Me 'Till Tomorrow" does it all for this release, but Zenith really has to work with the lyrical part and the musical part, as this lacks of originality, but big thumbs up to Jay's vocal-performance! He manages to switch quickly between growling, screaming, opera-like vocals and more normal rock vocals. Good job at that point.
