Worg / PVD is raw. About as raw as you can get without being a jumbled mess of noise. I never really understood the purpose of making your music so raw that you cannot even decipher what's going on. Worg does exactly that.
The music is typical raw black metal: guitar tones that would make a producer cringe. Vocals that are completely indecipherable. A drum set where you can only make out a high hat and a snare. No keyboards. It doesn't even sound like there's a bass. If there is, its buried beneath the chaos. The riffs themselves are more like punk riffs than black metal. I haven't even heard any blast beats yet. The music is grotesque and disgusting.
But amidst all of this ugly sound is an underlying feeling of dread and hatred. Worg isn't out there to be a good sounding band, or to make catchy songs. Worg is out there to give a sense of blackness. Even to the poorly tuned guitar riffs, I find myself tapping my foot and feeling intrigued to listen to more incoherent shouts and screams. I really wish that Worg would put up some lyrics so we can see exactly what they're talking about.
Overall, Worg is a perfect band for anyone who is really into raw / grim black metal. Even as a person who isn't into that style of extreme black metal, I found Worg's music to be intriguing. I couldn't hear what the hell was going on, but I wanted to hear more. My only complain would be that Worg should post lyrics to show their true grimness.
And to show people what the hell they're talking about.
