Wolfheart - Cold Breath

The perfect album for a cold guiness - 95%

PseudoGoatKill, February 13th, 2005

Ahh Wolfheart, yet another black metal bred band from Norway's neighbor Finland. What is it about Finland in which I can find so many decent if not good black metal bands?

I disgress though, this review is not about the Finnish music scene.

Cold Breath is classified as a melodic death/melodic black metal album. I can easily hear the melodic black metal parts, and some death metal parts. I have a hard time hearing melodic death metal on this album.

Perhaps this band was melodic death metal on their other album.

The whole of Wolfheart's "Cold Breath" with it's harsh atmospheric guitar work, minimalistic guitar soloing, nihilistic bass work, melodic blasted drumming, and cold harsh vocals is a melodic black metal album that succeeds in making you want to curl up on a snowy day next to an open window, drinking a bottle of guiness (or a wine cooler depending on your tastes) and reading a depressing book on nature. A call to unholy arms this is not.

This album is definately a classic, don't hesitate to track this down and take a listen.
