Doomy death at it's finest! - 80%

Warriors_Of_Ice, January 17th, 2005

Coming from the state of New York Winter showed the bands how to do the whole heavy riffs and doomy Sabbath feel and how to put it into death metal. This ep in my opnion is wayy better then their full length "Eternal Frost" due to the fact it has a better sound and a different tone then the album had. The opener "Servants Of The Warsman" is quite possibly one of the heaviest songs ever combining early Celtic Frost riffs with vocals reminicint of Autopsy. A good thing about this is that the songs never seem to get boring or old after a minute or so as most Doom does. The second song is just as good as the first and of course has the very heavy riffing as does the whole album. There is a very dark and eerie feel to this album that just adds to the whole feeling that Winter can pull off very well. There is no trace of stupid lyrics or even more dumber cookie monster vocals. The only flaw is that this is 4 tracks and should of been more, but oh well it's an ep. Winter definetaly have a sound all to themselves and people who are into most doom / death bands (Autopsy, Sorrow, etc.) should definetaly pick it up!
