White Silence - Demo

Shows Extreme Promise - 90%

HeavensOath, May 19th, 2008

Free stuff is always great. Of course, since it's free most people will assume that the product is not so good. That is most definitely not the case with White Silence.

Upon your first listen of this demo you will instantly think these guys are from somewhere in Europe, Sweden or Finland to be exact. Alas, White Silence hails from California and they play melodeath better than the people who invented it (I'm looking at you In Flames.)

My best comparison to similar bands can be to Children of Bodom. White Silence can seriously become the next Bodom if they ever become a little mainstream. The guitars have that insanely catchy feel to them and every melody that is made makes your jaw drop. Every riff that you hear you will remember, they are done so fantasticly and leave you with that sense of epicness, the same way Bodom does. The vocals while not being the most unique out there are still wonderful. You a ctually hear every word Quinn is growling! Some of the chorus's are so damn catchy you forget that this is death metal. The drumming is also done tastefully. Nothing quite over the top but also nothing boring and generic. Brogen knows what he is doing and it shows.

All in all I really can't see a reason why someone wouldn't give this band a chance. It's free and this band is easily better then some of the current big melodeath bands. I hope these guys make it huge, they deserve it.
