Old-school thrash with some interesting influences - 70%
From the current perspective: in 1994 the Italian band W.O.P. released their one and only demo. Less than eighteen minutes in length--six tracks plus one intro--are currently the only art which has been created by them. As their Metal Archives site does not mention any other projects of the members, it is a bit difficult to put this demo into perspective. Have they continued playing metal, did they progress into other regions of the music scene or did they left it after the recording of Attacco al Cuore del Sistema. Fans of the thrash metal scene will find some interesting ideas on this recording. Be it the neat guitars on Delirio Insano or the vocals with their (strange ?) singing like style, which rarely progress into screams and are also seldom interrupted by hardcore-influenced shouts, it is easy to identify the music among others. Generally, the music switches between faster (not excessively like other thrash metal bands like to play) and midtempo segments, with some occasional solo-guitar elements; which are by no means bad, but as the production was not the best one, they sound a bit out of balance; this gives the demo some additional charm. Also the drums are interesting and Sangue offers slightly punk-influenced arrangement together with the guitars. Generally, the instruments take the cake on this demo and the vocals, even though they are a clearly recognizable facet, do not play the dominating role here and especially the parts when they are gone and the instruments head to the faster and more aggressive parts are really cool at times.
To me, as someone who has some difficulties in thoroughly enjoying thrash metal, this demo is quite interesting, as it does not contain endless speed wankery, but some balancing and variation in this respect. Cool interludes, nice ideas in the arrangements and play with the instruments… there is quite a lot to be discovered on Attacco al Cuore del Sistema. Recommended.
