VISCERAL – ARRANCADO DEL SISTEMA

Back in 1998, when Malón had split-up temporarily, Tano Romano, Karlos Cuadrado and Willy Caballero, reformed the old and legendary extreme band Cerbero but changing its name to Visceral.
After their self-titled debut album the band gained a bit of success and recognition in the underground and therefore they recorded, “Arrancado Del Sistema” in 2001.

While this band is still as fast, pounding and riff-wise as Malón and Hermetica They show a death metal approach and even some old school and primitive black metal riffs mixed with an outstanding double-bass drumming unfolded proficiently by the drummer/vocalist Willy Caballero. His guttural and abominable vocal range gives a cryptic feel, and it is even more cryptic if we add some tombstone-like bass lines and those well-crafted Venom and Hellhammer worshipping riffs.

There’s a cute little intro and then the whole thing explodes into “Globalización” which bursts into obliterating madness and features an efficient mid-paced heavy break with a slow moving solo.
The title track “Arrancado Del Sistema”, “Reptil”, “En Las Buenas Y En Las Malas”, “Dueño Del Latigo”, “Como Lluvia De Estrellas”. All of them are efficient extreme numbers with an evil riff work and invincible drumming and all being really catchy to be such death metal oriented tunes and featuring such a thick guitar tone.

The rest of the songs aren’t bad though. Just not as memorable as the ones I had mentioned above. There are really no downfalls on this album; all of the songs are pretty solid and consistent.
The production is modern but not too angular. It’s the type of production Death Metal used to have back in late 1994.

Conclusion: Lots of fast-paced riffs, chugs, guttural vocals and nice back-up drumming give form to this really enjoyable and solid album.
