Hooked Flesh

Venereal messiah an unknown gore grind band from the New York area. With extreme low and brutal vocals, and an overall bulging sound, this reminds us of bands like mortician, old-suhrim, bowel stew and extreme noise terror.

The demo consist out of 5 tracks, “Mortally wounded”, ”Hooked Flesh”, ”Precoita Evisceration”, ”Afterbirth Engorgement ”and ”Eye Socket Sodomy”, this results in an all round demo with a playtime of merely 7 minutes and 43 seconds.

The demo starts of with “Mortally Wounded” and immediately the tone for the rest of the demo is set, nice brutal gore grind without any fancy breakdown or other metal/hardcore influences which are abundant in modern grind. These tone although it continues through out the entire demo, but starts to bore after a while from lack of variation in music and vocals.

The recording quality of the demo is really superb really if you think that it is a cd-r release with a very low budget. Barely any artwork is done for the release but it suits just perfect.

So it’s a good demo, but a bit of variation in the songs, would not do any damage to the overall sound of the demo, even contrary it would make the album more listenable for the average grind fan, or even normal death metal fans.

I for one am looking forward to a full release of venereal messiah.
