This is a great release which is very reminiscent of Burzum. Although I would not label them as a carbon copy band, since this release goes beyond the typical generic Burzum wanna be band. It creates the same sense of atmosphere as Burzum, which is where most of the other bands fail. The only complaint I have is that it just seems too short, like at the end you are expecting something more, at least another track or two. This is a release where the repitition of riffs works in its favor, rather than against it. The vocals are decent, slightly above average black metal vocals, but the music is what really carries this release and keeps me listening to it again and again on many a late night. It is devoid of the dry, emotionally depraved feeling that I get from most bands in this genre, as I said before it creates a great sense of atmosphere a la Burzum. All in all, this is on the higher end of ambient black metal type bands that I have listened to, and still serves as one of the best albums to listen to on one of those cold and quiet nights. And covering Burzum is always a plus.
