A short and sweet release from this brutal UK 5-piece, Idiosyncratic Chaos serves as a 2-song introduction to the band's new vocalist, Ben Wright of Fleshrot. What is offered is 8 minutes of sheer mastery of intense songwriting, keeping the compositions relentless and manic but still distinguishable. The production has allowed every instrument breathing space in the mix and all parts use that exquisitely, as we get insane drum fills from the octopoid Doug Anderson, techy bass solos from the Federico Benini, a workhorse of the UKDM scene, and even harmonised guitar leads!
With such brevity this release was unlikely to outstay its welcome but more than just passing the time, Idiosyncratic Chaos displays a level of craftsmanship beyond many bands aping the same Suffocation worship. Both tracks have grooves that get stuck in your head, and even melodies that you can hum along to once you've given it a proper listen. If this is any indication of the quality of their second full-length coming in 2016, prepare to be very, very excited. - 89%
