The first time I heard of Under Eden was the day I saw them live. After the show I bought this album, The Savage Circle from their vocalist. The songs sound amazing both played in studio and live.
The vocals of this band are definitely something that stand out. They remind of Dissection big time. They are varied pitch wise throughout the album. I'd say they're like thrash and death metal vocals having a child, the end result: Under Eden's vocals. Drums are great, just damn great. The drummer has great ideas and can put the climax of a song at it's best. The drum patterns are something that's fresh to hear, nothing repeats annoyingly. I noticed that the drums are not always a constant blast beat which is a nice change, that must come from their thrash influences. The guitars, oh my the guitars. The riffs are amazing. Their lead guitarist makes me think of Dissection so much. The atmosphere the guitars put out are like a blanket that brings the songs together.
If you're in the mood for a thrashy death yet settle album, I suggest you find this album. It's a good cd to just put in your car, drive, and enjoy the hell out of it.
The only reason I gave it -10 pts is because of the art. If I hadn't heard these guys before seeing their cd cover, I wouldn't have bothered. The art looks generic to me, something that isn't really appealing and just boring over all.
Buy it, hear for yourself.
