If you're a fan of bands like Devourment and so many others that mimic them, you'll probably find this enjoyable, but lacking. It's very catchy and groovy slam death metal, but doesn't contain the slightly higher complexity of Devourment. This should never be described as technical and that is because it's very primitive and simplistic in its content. It is not entirely terrible though, but it is very derivative.
The album starts off like many other albums, with an instrumental track that leads into the musical content held within. It is nothing ground breaking at all. You're immediately assaulted with simplistic barre power chords that churn through the album at varying speeds, with the tempo staying very consistent. When you hear the slam chords be played, it becomes very easy to dissect the musical content, measure by measure. Unlike other slam death bands, this band maintains the same chord shape absolutely through out the album. It's the same exact sound consistently through out the album, with the occasional simple tremolo and blast beat combo. The bass is partly audible here, adding immensity to the percussive guitar riffs, and like other slam death projects, you won't be hearing anything special. The drummer sounds very competent and capable behind the guitar/bass noise. He blasts away at his kit with plenty of cymbal work and a lot of snare use combined with pounding double bass. The drumming actually eliminates some of the monotony of the guitar/bass combo, and adds a much less primitive sound to the composition. The vocals are standard, run of the mill, inhaled gutturals and pig squeals. He does break away from the unintelligible vocals, and performs some great exhaled vocals on the track Marah Termuntah. If he were to quit doing inhales, and focus on his exhales, he'd probably be one of my favorite vocalists.
This is not an album for everyone, and would only serve to satisfy those that love primitive and minimalist music like slam death metal. This album isn't all bad though. The grooving, primitive riffs can be quite catchy, like on Persetubuhan Sedarah. The best this album can go for though is background noise if you're not looking for something distracting because it's quite easy to forget that it's playing.
