Tourniquet's Carry the Wounded EP is not good at all. First of all it has no trace of metal in it, of course that has been happening with the new Tourniquet albums. Actually there is only one good song on this album and that is the first song. I hate to do a song by song review, but I think it can only do justification for how bad this EP sucks.
The first song Carry the Wounded is the best song on this album. It starts out with a sweet guitar riff played on an acoustic guitar. The riff then turns distorted, but not heavy, which is what happens for the most part on the rest of this album. Distorted guitars but no heaviness. The singer over all is pretty good, but a really bad metal singer. This song is pretty catchy and decent. When the Love is Right is a whole piano oriented song, which isn't bad, just isn't metal. Maybe if this song would have got heavier or added some distorted guitar solos it might have been better.
Oh Well is a decent song, which sounds blues like. But Bongo drums? Yeah that's a little to much for me thanks. This sounds like something off of that new Aerosmith album, what with all the playing guitar solo, music stop with just singing. My Promise is another soft song with no distorted guitars. I think it has something to do with getting married. It is acoustically oriented and features a violin solo. Heads I Win, Tails You Loose is an alright song because it has a pretty moving beat. There are distorted guitars, but they're not heavy. This song kind of sounds like Led Zeppelin's Ramble On, the way the beat is put together.
Overall, this album is way to soft. One or two good songs won't cut it either. It would be a better album if this band wasn't supposed to be a metal band. For most metal heads...and I mean most as in 99.9% of us -don't waste good time. Please!
