Torsofuck - Postpartum Exstasy

ECSTACY - 83%

Written based on this version: 2023, Digital, Morbid Generation Records

I was really clamoring for Torsofuck to return and release this legendary product of gore and filth, and they really did. It's very rare for a musical piece to have my full attention all the way through, but after 18 years of wait, Postpartum Extasy and its lyrics had me for the entire 32 minute duration of the album.

The lyrics and the music here have little relation with each other, but form equally important parts of this release, so I'll be evaluating them completely separately, starting with the music.

The vocals are as shitty, disgusting and vile as their previous release (this is a good thing). The instruments themselves have an extremely rough, brutal tone, perfectly fit for slam, although real drums would've been a big boost. With what I presume are some digital enhancements, they're harmonized into a horrendous, manic pornogrind-slam machine in this album. However, despite the utter filth of the general sound, tightness is not compromised and your eardrums are assaulted with heavily rhythmical, dense array of gruesome sounds.

Despite sounding like a pure yet generic slam-porngrind fest to be enjoyed while nothing more artistic is available, this album actually excels during its own climax ("The Pig") and the few individual climaxes the songs have. Not taking into account the lyrical subjects of the songs and whatnot, those moments are pure furious, atmospheric bliss to me.

Lyrics like this are a sensitive issue in this day and age. Understandably many would find them either extremely repugnant or immature, and some might even consider it misogynistic for obvious reasons. While the former is a matter of stomach and taste, I'd disagree with the latter: The abhorrent portrayals of sexual assault here are so cartoonishly evil and unrealistic that it's foolish to take them into any seriousness. Personally, I just find the lyrics here to be shocking and amusing examples of creative writing. Out of all the songs, "Amputated Tits" had the least interesting lyrics while "The Pig" and "Molested With Festering Stump" had the most shocking and creative ones. Compared to the band's previous lyrical work on "Erotic Diarrhea Fantasy", these lack brevity but are overall a step up in humor, shock value, and creativity.

Overall, this is one step above their previous full-length project, musically, stylistically and literarily.
