Drunk as fuck Venom worship - 71%

Xpert74, December 16th, 2005

That’s pretty much a literal description of the music. It sounds like a bunch of drunk guys playing Venom and Motorhead-ish stuff they had just written on the spot, with a touch of the classic German sound. The singer especially sounds like an extremely inebriated and raspy Tom Warrior, occasionally sounding so ridiculous as to cause the listener to laugh out loud. That’s part of the appeal here though.

The rest of the band is kind of sloppy as well, although they play their instruments well in comparison to the vocals. The drumming isn’t especially outstanding, but it fits the music well, and the drummer doesn’t try and add a bunch of random fills to sound technical. I can barely tell what’s being sung, but judging by the song titles (Poser Death, Cock Hunger, Deaf Metal, etc.), it’s definitely Metal as fuck. The riffs are extremely dirty Thrash riffs. They don’t do much to differentiate themselves from each other, but it’s definitely headbanging quality at least. The closest comparison I can come up with aside from Venom and Motorhead is probably a much sloppier Celtic Frost or Kreator, or Repulsion’s demos (although the music itself is quite far from Grindcore, heh). Actually come to think of it, this is really damn similar to Repulsion (or Genocide as they were known as then)’s demos, before they started bringing in blastbeats when they recorded what would become their debut album, Horrified.

The songs are somewhat samey, but I’d say my favorite by far is Poser Death. It starts with the guitars and drums just bashing away like at the beginning of Metallica’s Hit The Lights or Venom’s Red Light Fever, then it slows down quickly into a midpaced intro riff. After playing the riff a few times, you hear a Tom Warrior “EUGH!” and a tremolo riff for a moment, and the verses and such then come in. Even though I don’t have any idea what the lyrics are in the chorus, the chorus is extremely memorable (AAAAAAAAAAAUUUEEEEGHLLIIAIAAAAAAAARGH x2). Plus overall, it just has a badass atmosphere to the whole thing.

Overall this isn’t required listening in the world of Metal, but if you ever come across this somehow and are in the mood to hear some old, drunk and dirty Teutonic Thrash, then you’ll probably enjoy this a lot. It’s worth hearing at least once, if for no other reason than to hear vocals as twisted as this.
