The Partisan Turbine is a brilliant example of brutal deathgrind and deathcore done fucking properly. When I think of deathcore/deathgrind hybrids, I immediately think of bands such as Misericordiam, Pencil Lead Syringe, IVEBEENSHOT, The Red Chord and of course, The Partisan Turbine. These guys hail from Long Island, New York and let me tell you something, they do NOT fuck about when it comes to their music. It's gory, it's angry and it's mosh friendly to fuck.
The sheer fact of them being from New York alone should be a pointer that they create heavy as fuck music, but they show this incredible amalgamation of grind, brutal death metal, hardcore, deathcore and slam that will have you just begging for more. So, let's look at the music.
Each track is 1 minute long or maybe a bit more, which is the ideal length of a typical deathgrind song, but once you listen to each track, you'll feel like you've listen to something a lot longer as these dudes have shown the capabilities of combing grind, deathcore, brutal death and hardcore into one sitting. The slams in songs such as Parasitic Slaughter, Quantum Physics, Surgical Assault and Vaginal Secretion are sure-fire to get some spinkicks and windmills going and the faster, more savage grinding sections will have you headbanging like an epileptic. The end breakdown during Inertia will definitely have you getting down, and oddly enough, the more ambient sections compliment this EP quite well.
One of the most outstanding things about this EP is the vocals. The gutturals, growls and squeals are some of the most inhuman and alien-like in any deathgrind/deathcore hybrid, and the higher pitched screams sound like they were produced some mentally deranged serial killer.
Lyrically, each song will have you imagining some of the goriest situations ever created in death metal. As weird of a comparison this is, the lyrics are early Ingested levels of gruesome.
It's a shame these lads broke up, there's so much about their combination of styles that would've put A LOT of heavy bands to shame nowadays. That being said, this a very fun EP to listen to and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to find something different in brutal death metal, grindcore or even deathcore.
