I’ve always been very curious about the Brazilian brutal death metal scene since the day I discovered Krisiun. Then Rebaelliun came and I was sure about the goodness of such a proliferous field. When I read a review on a magazine about The Ordher group for “Weaponize” album, I immediately decided to give it a chance in my stereo and this didn’t disappoint me. We can find again a massive dosage of brutal death metal that, always being inspired to the most important groups in this genre, is able to be quite original too; this is an important and rare thing.
The title track at the beginning of the album is damn fast and brutal. The bass drum is always fast and the up tempo is the main characteristic. Surprisingly the following “You’ve Become My Enemy” is pure in Morbid Angel style and doom: the whole track is slow and the guitars are very muddy in the sound. “The Poison” is again faster than hell but with the distinctive strange, low tuned guitars sound. If you believed to listen to a Krisiun or Rebaelliun guitars distortion, you are wrong because here it’s more obscure, and a bit less loud. The drums are so fast that sometimes are less audible, especially the snare.
The vocals are standard death metal ones, they’re not too growly but very powerful anyway. Surely this mix and production make the whole CD sounds more “human” and less bestial, like Rebaelliun’s “Annihilation”, where, just to remind you, they utilized 4 guitars lines! Here the solos are always excellent in technique and sound with lots of tapping parts. “Won’t Stand Behind The Line” beginning in again very doom to restart in blast beats, increasing the violence.
There are always several tempo changes during the songs, so you can hear more melodic or progressive riffs, good solos and sudden hyper speed parts. That shows a good level of songwriting without focusing the attention on the sheer violence and speed. Each track is quite enjoyable without being great or stunning and we can always find quite audible refrains or verses. “Father” song has some groove during the solo but it’s ok in their sound, to break a bit the pure attack and I liked it.
Overall, a good piece of death metal that, even losing the competition against Krisiun and so on, it’s quite enjoyable and good to recommend to any fan of mentioned sonorities. For sure is more various.
