So does The Night Eternal's latest single, Shadow's Servants (released in March on 7" limited edition vinyl under Herzogenrath's Ván Records) assuage caliginously roving affectations in line with a triptych denoted by Black Trip, Chalice and In Solitude that yours truly is debunked over, enthralled by 4.5 minutes of darkly rollicking and tambourine-ing, crystal-clear-as-a-Hell-bell traditional heavy metal which, for all intents and Southerly crossed purposes, should also appeal to hardened doom might akin to Castle and/or Death Penalty (the fact both are femme fronted makes nary difference).
While the rhythm section plunks, starkly along, in a churlishly active mien, to tune of solid, yet proportionately hollow sounding, front man who brings to savaged mind a youthful melange of Joseph Tholl (of Black Trip) and Verneri Pouttu (of Chalice), the guitar parts preceding the catchy-as-Hades verses and refrain - re-transcribed, below, in all its primary glory - teeter on a decidedly proto-metal-ish edge reminiscent of vintage 70s era Pentagram and early Witchcraft -- hence, grapple your malevolently dancing broomsticks, as the spire's definitely been blown, asunder!
For want of snugly wrung caveat, the official single is briefly book-ended by super ominous "haunted church" emancipation, whilst the fantastically phrased, albeit sombrely coloured, solo section commencing at exactly 02:48, unto 03:16 (whence lead maestro Rob and rhythmic companion Henry team up for some timely and much hexed dual guitar harmony), uncannily conjures vistas of sped up, but no less wizened, Pagan Altar/The Wizar'd/Tarot type lead nomenclature, the style of which does wicked justice to this fire brand of occult rock/nwothm hybrid...not least of which should be talk of the towne, leading up to a massively preyed upon full-length debut, sometime very soon.
"Blood will run tonight, in death through sacrifice. While ancient demons lurking in the dark.
Death through sacrifice, as blazing daggers break in through your heart."
