The Boneless Ones - Keg Kept a Flowin’

An (old?) curio - 60%

gasmask_colostomy, June 12th, 2022

The second single that preceded the new album from The Boneless Ones was not much more serious than the Christmas-themed first one, nor did this make it onto Back to the Grind. This time, it's a simple punky number with an insistent chanted refrain that will be in your head after about a minute, since it goes, "Keg kept flowing, all night long" along with the chord-based riff rhythm. Beyond the main riff and that chorus, a surprise solo fills out the gap between the first 2 repetitions, while the song pretends to break down before coming back for a third round, informally including some spoken snippets as we move towards the end. 'Keg Kept a Flowin'' was apparently distributed with Skate Rock #3, but not knowing whether that refers to a 'zine or other media I don't have a clear idea how old the track is. Could well be that we're listening to something from the original incarnation of The Boneless Ones, and the limited range of the production, as well as the adherence to punky stylings, make me inclined to say that's true. All in all, just a curio though.
