Brilliant Demo - 89%

Sportswear, March 9th, 2004

Firstly, I have to say, "Abortion Through A Straw" is the BEST song title I have EVER come across, ha ha ha.

It's a bloody good Demo. Simplicity at its true best. Interesting guitar playing that all seems to fit very well. The vocals stick out for me a lot also. The drumming slow and simple, but fucking goes perfectly, if you sped the songs up, they wouldn't be as affective.
The intro on the song "Innumerical Bonds" starts off very eerie indeed, with a strange melodic style part before dropping onto this very well growled voice and gloomy down tempo based sound with cheeky melodies and fills here and there. Very simple, but very fucking good, I would say slow to mid tempo. The whole structure and arrangement of the CD is very weird, as is the guitar work in general. It is very hard to just lump them with a certain label or category. Which to me is a great achievement.
"Hung Through a Coat Hanger" starts off very brutally, with tempo changes throughout.
Abortion Through A Straw starts off with some nice riffs, and a great shouty style set of vocals. When I think about it, this CD is perfect length and just overall very interesting. Exceptionally interesting guitar work on "Open Concave Chest Wound" about 1:20 in that explodes and then drops back in over the top of the usual weird and slow(ish) tempo and gritted teeth style crunches.
"Suicide as Self Expression" starts off very interesting indeed, with the low guttural growls as background to great shouts of seeming desperation, then the crunchy riffs to follow are brilliant.

The song "Her Dead Burning Hair", I think must be live or an earlier recording, because it is a terrible recording \m/ but a weird array of riffs, pretty good.

All in all, I fucking love it. I'm interested to see what direction their music goes.
Support these guys, get their shit.
