Stronghold is a new name within the Dutch metal scene. The band was founded in 1998 and released their first demo CD in february this year, which looks rather professional.
The 4 tracks featured are a mixture of (modern) Heavy Metal, some Speed Metal and a sniff of Black Metal (vocally for sure). The interesting part lies in the fact that the music is brought with a considerable amount of enthousiasm to try something else without crossing the thin line between metal and modern ‘groove’-kind variations. The CD goes well down and that’s the way it should be.
Unfortunately, Stronghold didn’t pay too much attention to the overall sound of the recording which resulted in a thin guitar sound, Stronghold’s rather catchy music would definitely improve with a somewhat heavier sound!
All in all Stronghold produced a nice demo which is advisable to everyone who is searching of something different for a change.
