Stealth - Death Patrol

Attention! Execution Is Imminent - 79%

CHAIRTHROWER, July 21st, 2020
Written based on this version: 2020, Digital, Independent (Bandcamp)

Storming out of gate, at Mach speed, is Germany's recently formed Stealth, a twin-ax formation which pays tribute to Teutonic speed metal masters from days of yore - alongside healthy, prerequisite dose of Lemmy-worship - with ten minute, three-tracked quiff parter of a Death Patrol EP, released in May, independently and digitally, as well as on limited edition 7" vinyl.

Thusly, side A's "Moonlight Crescendo" rips away to sound of shattered glass and shrill, feminine wail, in addition to highly tumbling snare and bass drum, 'fore execrably giving way (lay) to decidedly Motorhead-ish and scrappy, high speed guitar riff/jangling bass line, whilst its diabolically (r)evolving mass/mash subjects our none-too-delicate ears to intensely whammy'd, even equine sounding, bout of spastic soloing.

A fair entrance, yet it's duly Side B's anthemic and salty-as-Hell, almost Flight-like in its footloose and prattling jauntiness, "Rocking The Night", which gets juices flowing. In essence, it's the more accessible, quote "nwothm"-flair'd piece (even the lead leans closer to melodious harmony, as opposed to vociferous, scalp-ripping acrobatics), while titular closer "Death Patrol" opens to mock-apocalyptic, albeit hilariously accented, narration prior to flinging its gloves off with further high-strung or super kinetic battery implements (fit to re-order), as well as gang-backed choral shouts and catchily jitterbugging secondary bridge-riff. At this point, I'm headily reminded of a gruffly declamatory Algy Ward and the boys, from Tank circa 1983-84.

Worth mentioning, also, are the gents' uproarious pseudonyms, and fact Stealth's Death Patrol was recorded, no worse for wear (or fear), at two of its members' (sub) basement, back in Rocktober. At any rate, speed/heavy metal fans, the World over, will surely get kicks out of this - in anticipation of due full-length, of course.
