Well, after hearing the track Unmade, I thought 'I need to buy this'. I loved the thrashiness, the clarity, and the unorthodox clean vocal chorus. A fresh take on thrash. The cover was a bit iffy, but hey, I listen to Black metal, image means nothing, the music is the important part (tr00 metal elites are confused, here). So, I pop in the album, and am quite pleased with the intro, which happens to be Unmade, of course. The second track is pretty good too, continuing the quick riffing, splashes of singing over low mid level growls. Then the third track comes. A ballad. In a thrash album? I pick up the booklet and flip through; is this really Soulscar? It is, actually, and this seems to be much the rest of the album, unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly some good tracks on here, and some great moments on the lesser ones, but c'mon, thrash ballads may look good on paper, but so does communism.
Productionwise, as I said before, it's not very thick, but there's a pretty distinct sound to it, reinforced by the almost overwhelming amount of toms the drummer uses in comparison to anything else on his kit.
Overall, a few choice tracks, but weak moments and way too may emo (not always bad, but definately bad here) unsteady clean vocal passages drag it down.
