Silence Dead - Навсегда один (Forever Alone)

Techno Melo Death - 83%

Velvokai, February 9th, 2005

This band plays a weird mix of techno, and finnish-style melo death.
The guitars are there more for the rhythm section; the keyboards seem to dominate most of the time. The vocals change from clean, to blackish screams. The drums are very quiet in the mix; almost inaudible. Bass is very quiet too.
The first song sounds similar to Eternal Tears of Sorrow’s Chaotic Beauty, with a bit of techno influences mixed in.
The second one is a bit more electronic, and sounds like something off Sentenced’s Cold White Light album. Some of the guitars are acoustic in this song, which creates a weird feeling switching from techno dominated, to more traditional, acoustic passage.
The last one sounds like Kalmah, but the more blackish side of Kalmah, as opposed to their melo death side.
With this demo the band showed what it’s capable of, and now hopefully they’ll release a full length. They are overdue for one. Overall it’s a good demo from a promising band. They showed that they can create music in several styles at once, not just rework the same ideas over and over again like some bands do; they mix a variety of genres on a three song demo without sounding as complete jackasses who don’t know what style to play. That’s gotta count for something.
