North Carolina's Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement, one of the many projects of the great skinshredder Jordan Varela (drummer for Lust of Decay, Domination Through Impurity) will certainly grab ahold of your ears and smash your skull into a cinder block. Another great Sevared Records release.
What sperates this band from the other projects mentioned earlier is that this band has somewhat of a traditional death metal feel especially riff wise. Vocals are layered with both low and high ranges, which reminds me a bit of some satanic death metal bands I won't mention, while retaining some signature sounds you'd expect from Lust of Decay members, without completely sounding like their other projects. There is a bit of a Malevolent Creation/Decide sound to the music, riff and vocal wise, unlike Lust Of Decay.
You can expect death metal of a more technical varity with this band. You won't hear any devourment style riffs on this album, which may come as a great relief to you if you are sick of hearing that type of new age death metal. Unfortunately, you won't get any groundbreaking new ideas either. If you like the style of death metal the way it was before Dying Fetus changed the way it was played, looking for more straight forward brutality with a bit of an old school touch, you'll like this cd.
91 percent because I really enjoyed this album, especially because of the nastalgia I experienced remembering how death metal used to be, but no higher because to be honest, its nothing I haven't heard before.
