Very interesting debut EP of Germanys newest mentionable underground band September Murder. With luck and good promotion work, After Every Setting Sun will produce a lot furor in death metal underground and hopefully some label interest too.
The dosage of brutal thrash metal, some technical passages and old school death in modern sound is the way September Murder want to go. With success!! This is no "Masterclass 40.000 Dollar produced Nile output", but an awesome first step in death metal history.
The 4 songs are populated with a lot of high speed, groove and some catchy melodies in a mixture of Dimension Zero influences here and some Cannibal Corpse brutality there. Again, It Crossed My Way and the title track are best examples for their work in finding an own place in these incredible huge death metal landscape. Both tracks have sections where the band slows down the tempo and creates some hymn middle parts in the vein that even Amon Amarth or Bolt Thrower would like to do.
The sound is not perfect, but powerful. But because of this powerful sound and especially the high speed work at the instruments, it will need some time to find the details and to understand the song structures. But all in all this album certainly stands out amongst the crowd and maybe will grow to an underground jewel.
