Written based on this version: 2012, CD, Pacheco Records

Arizona was a rather uncommon place for thrash metal acts to originate from. The only Arizona based acts I can think of are Flotsam & Jetsam, Atrophy, and Vektor. Despite the unusual place of origin, one band named Sacred Reich was about to release one of the best thrash records of the 80's. That record was their debut, "Ignorance", which was released on Metal Blade in 1987. Let's take a look at this classic!

"Death Squad" opens the record and has quite arguably one of the best opening riffs in on any thrash record. The main riff then comes in, and many people tend to mistakenly accuse Sacred Reich of being copycats because the riff sounds like Sodom's "Agent Orange". Funny thing however is that this album came about nearly 2 years BEFORE Agent Orange. So "Agent Orange" sounds like "Death Squad" haha. Anyways this is a killer track, guitarists Jason Rainey and Wiley Arnett are riff machines on this album. Bassist and vocalist Phil Rind has one of the most recognizable voices in thrash in my opinion. He has a distinctive character in his vocals, it's hard to explain. He puts on a killer performance here that's for sure! Drummer Greg Hall is a killer drummer. His beats are fast and furious, and his fills are very well placed. He does a fantastic job on this album!

The songs here are amazing, there is so much to appreciate here. "Victim Of Demise" is a awesome track. The riff is badass, and the vocals are actually sung pretty fast during the main section. "Layed To Rest" is a mournful sounding instrumental, with a pretty nice guitar solo. This is calm before the storm however, because the title track is what follows. The main riff on the title track is fucking DEVASTATING!!! This is one of the best riffs on the album. This is one of the highlights on the record, this is an excellent track! "Violent Solutions" is another highlight, the opening guitar solo is rad, and the riff in the middle of the song is superb! This is one of the best Sacred Reich songs! "Sacred Reich" is an awesome track, the riff sounds killer and the drum work is top notch. All of these tracks are pretty much the best thing Sacred Reich has ever done along with their EP "Surf Nicaragua" and "The American Way".

So there you have it, that is Sacred Reich's "Ignorance". Forgive my generic word choices and vocabulary, but kickass, killer, and awesome are just about the perfect words to describe this album. The riffs are everywhere, there is not a single boring moment to be found. This is easily one of the best Metal Blade releases along with Flotsam and Jetsam's "Doomsday For The Deceiver" and Hallow's Eve's "Tales Of Terror". You can't go wrong with this record. I recommend this to fans of Atrophy, Nuclear Assault, Megadeth, Sodom, and Xentrix.

Highlights: EVERYTHING!!!
