This album mainly has three themes. Tracks 1-2 are about war. Well written and well played, but nothing majorly stands out about them.
Then, we have "No Solution for your Life". The lyrics are about sorrow and pain, torture and isolation. The vocals really stand out here, high-pitched and tortured, yet not girly, but rather raspy and hellish. The instruments are just good old black metal. The solo didn't really stand out, but the song itself is absolutely amazing. If I was reviewing the song alone, I'd give it 100%.
The previous song seemed to be a teaser for the second, suicide-themed part of this album. Here on the next three tracks, the titles speak for themselves: "Execution of Jesus Christ", "The Horned", and "Piss on Christianity". This is where the band breaks out the speed and brutality. Just relentless anti-Christian mayhem until it comes to a sudden halt at "The Prophecy".
"The Prophecy" is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. You'll just have to hear it for yourself. It acts as an intro to the more melancholy second half of the album. Starting here 'til the end, this is where this album really shines, and is why my rating is so high.
The rest of the album captures the essence of winter, suicide, solitude, and despair while still playing good black metal. They don't use acoustics, or venture off into Shining's style. I highly enjoy Shining's style, however I salute this band for capturing the same pain and darkness while sticking to black metal.
Memorable tracks:
"No Solution for your Life"
"At the Grave of My Existence" with melodic tremolo guitars and a piano outro
"The Prophecy"
