“…feel the fire burnin’ under your feet…”
The second Japanese-only Rock City support disc hooks up the title track and “Gypsy Queen” for a fine secondary inauguration of the band’s work to the Pacific market, released probably prior to the full-lengther’s November deadline for obvious reasons, but ya never know.
Just as strong as the first single’s “Warrior” b/w “Tokyo Rose”, this single features two additional facets the US band had beneath its sleeve, with a straight, center, and traditionally formulaic title cut in the vein of Triumph, Montrose, and maybe Nugent as the a-side, meanwhile up-tempo n’ more free wheelin’ “Gypsy Queen” swings things with an animated chorus that breaks, tosses and turns more so than most on the lp and pretty much unlike the bands listed above.
All in all, judging by the number of near-simultaneous releases of Rock City on Attic, Ariola, Victor and Eurodisc Records, then with following year reissues and overall sales, the whole she-bang impressed Capitol Records enough to release the band’s ’79 follow-up, Narita, with multiple pressings to cover lotsa ground.
