With so many whatever 7"s from unknown bands floating around, it's easy to pass for the classic full lengths, but Randy's debut 7" is not worth passing.
Randy recalls the original NWOBHM bands. There's a hard rock edge to all the proceedings and a strong pop element, with tuneful whoas and catchy riffs peppered with a few harder edged sections. "Shadows are Falling" has an almost Praying Mantis vibe to it, blabbing about lost love to a great tuneful riff and really characterizes the sound of Randy's future demos.
But honestly we're all here for the B-side. "The Beast" rocks with a thrashy sense of abandon, warning you of Satan and death lurking in the shadows. It perfectly sums up everything great about 80's metal riffs while still maintaining a catchy chorus.
It's hard to find this for anything less than $150, but I promise you it's worth every cent.
