Basement Slam???????? - 70%

Metalhead Pear, March 23rd, 2021
Written based on this version: 2020, CD, Independent (Limited edition)

Now I have heard plenty about caveman slam as it's become somewhat of a meme recently, but this is certainly something new. This is another one of those super lo-fi bands that blend goregrind and slam into some kind of unholy amalgamation of pure filth and chaos. Now unlike Teratocarcinomas, I feel these guys are definitely something worth your interest.

To start of, the blend of slam and goregrind is done very nicely although I feel the release is way too short though I guess you could say that it holds true to the grind side of this release. Either way the length is definitely an issue with just 2 songs lasting a little over 2:40 in total. As for the music itself the mix is very raw and actually sounds like it was recorded in a basement, but it's not raw to the point where I can't identify different frets being played on the guitars. The drums are what gives this release that grind sound and together with everything else would make you want to get down, boogie, and shit your pants a bit. Vocals are nice, not too much to say about them except they're pretty generic sounding slam vocals with some grind inspirations. Lastly, this albums manages to fit a good amount of slammy parts and groovy shit like in Torturously Dismembered where it combines those two elements and makes the song flow like water.

In sum, this was definitely worth the money I hope to see more releases like this one in the future :)
