Preludium - Impending Hostility

This time, it's war. - 85%

Obsidian696, March 29th, 2013

When England has Bolt Thrower and The Netherlands has Hail Of Bullets, Poland has its Preludium, crying aloud "WAR" all through their new album, 'Impending Hostility'. Damaging the nation's peace, here is their hostile album for you, war black/death metal served right. I recently got a copy of this album and I am glad to say that I'm definitely not disappointed, but way happy with the release.

The album starts with 'Legacy Of Destinations', a slow intro of marching beats that brings out the war spirit in you and that's when the song starts with a constant barrage of blast beats. The next three songs, 'Realm Of Void', 'Desolation', and 'Hostile Area', are like hammer blows on your head. With a nice solo in the song 'Hostile Area', they certainly show the right way to mix melody with aggression. 'Bitter Cold' starts off with a siren and moves onto the usual bestial attack. It's slow, not as fast-paced like other songs, but done the right Bolt Thrower way. The next two songs, 'Blessing Of War' and 'Death Campaign', are pulverizing with their fast music, both different from the preceding song. 'Execution' is yet another song that has a very good balance of slow and incredibly fast tempo. The album ends with the monstrous 'Warfare', which is an instrumental and my favourite song of the album.

This war-influenced album is destructive with its massive blasts. One small negative point would be a little bit of monotony, but with the well-paced songs, the monotony rolls down the drain. There's a constant barrage of hammering drums, intense riffing, and very strong vocals. I love the vocals the most, but surely the vocalist couldn't do without all of his warriors. Doing their part in this fight, they have recorded a very powerful album. Well done, Preludium. You've definitely done enough to conquer this listener's mind.

The bottom line:
Acing the war in music, they have provided us cannons of heaviness in the form of hostility. A must hear for all!
