The record starts with a bass line which soon gets accompanied by some piano melodies. A few seconds later, guitars and vocals are kicking in and you will not expect anything strange up to that point. Except of some minor interruptions the guitars are sawing throughout the song and are accompanied by the growls of vocalist 7. The first half of the song is a quite good black metal song with some minor rock influences, the second one is quite weird. While a fair like music is playing, the vocalist sounds a bit drunk. As this half goes on, the instruments are droning even more and then the song ends.

This is just the tip of the iceberg compared to the other songs on the record. The second song still is pretty normal, the only special effects are some polka influences. The following songs are surpassing everything that has been before. Sado-Mazo Vokietija is the name of one of the strangest songs on the record. Black metal structures are reduced to a minimum in the rhythms of the guitars, the vocals are quite clean and they are trying to speak German. The song is streaked with spoken passages which could remind some of you of popsongs of the ninetees.

Pergalé are using those polka/humpaa elements in nearly every song, the last one even consists out of those elements in combination with some electronic beats (that could remind you of the music used in retro games) or industrial metal in general, with less guitars of course. The instrumental parts of each song are quite good and they defined some new shades of black’n'roll, compared to bands like Vreid. Although the interruptions, like in the end of the first song, are disturbing the stream of the record, these are the reason because of which the record is ingenious.

Conlusion:

The record is the worst nightmare of everyone reviewing stuff, as it is multilayered and hard to grasp, but quite worthwhile. You need some time to get used to the strange stylistic elements they used and you should consider if you can get used to some experimental songs or not. If you can get used to it you will be rewarded with a varied, curious and entertaining record.
