Ok, it's time to present you with the latest record of Swedish metallers, Pandemonium, entitled "Insomnia". This it actually their debut album, released under the wings of JCM Records. After such a good demos, this is thing that should happen to such a briliant band and I hope their name will get heard. Production is now much much better, since album was recorded in Berno studio. Keyboards sound spacy, more atmospheric-like, but not letting the guitars go into background. They are so heavy and raw. Drums are powerful, as well as Kalle with his great growl vocals. This is an example how an underground band can still sound good, even if they got signed! The melodies on this one are more sophisticated and beautiful. Even the great names of doom/death metal, like Novembers Doom, Amorphis, Opeth, would wish to have written such a good songs. Not saying that Pandemonium is a copy of them, just they are playing similiar type of music. "The Hollow Grounds" and "Midnight Phobia" are amongs the best one off the "Insomnia" and will surely drop you off in the dark abysses, fill your mind with emotions, melanholic leads and great compositions on keyboards. Guitar parts will blow you off with such an intensity and power you haven't heard a lot. A combination of growl and clean vocals works perfectly and is a main weapon of those guys. Song "Descending Shadows" sounds like Pandemonium in "...To Apeiron" era, with louder and more powerful guitars and a good amount of energy. Eight and a half minute epic "Traces of A Midwinter Drama" will surely get you into new dimensions and states of mind, while "Morninglight Revery" will keep you in a real metal world. "Insomnia" and "Nightlike Silence" are classic songs for this band. Not perfect ones, but still making the point. The only minus could be the fact that few songs are too long, and they would sound better without much repetition. But anyway, this is a great album, one of the best of it's kind in the underground world. You really shouldn't miss "Insomnia"! Listen to it and enjoy...
