Ossuary was a very short-lived old-school brutal death metal band from Ashley Pennsylvania formed in 1990. This band was only together for a handful of years. The time frame in which this band was active is not exactly known, but let’s just say it was between 1990-1994 ish. And in that time they managed to put out 3 demos with “Fat” being my personal favorite. When I see the topic of the best brutal death metal demos get brought up, this one usually goes unmentioned. And to me, that needs to change.

This demo only has 4 tracks with a run span of 13 mins. And within that short amount of time, it immediately gets its message across. It’s a quick beat down, once you hit play it doesn't let up. Hitting you in the head with Internal Bleeding slams, and bouncy grooves. The riffage on this demo is great, allowing for slower tempos on the grooves and slams to hit harder, before exploding into furious blast beats. The bass is especially good on this recording, its rumbling tone with the raw production compliments the heaviness and the many bouncy slams and hooks that are presented. This band even implements some grindcore influence at times. Kind of in the sense of early Napalm Death. They also play around with some nasty vocal effects, instead of restoring to your typical gutturals. The result of that is howling shrieks on the fast parts and distance-odd vocals mixed in with the growls, making this recording stand out in some aspects. The only gripe I’d say is that there are stupid samples placed throughout this thing. But that’s just a personal preference. My favorite tracks are “Man of God” and “Emotional Parasite”.

When it comes to this band's overall discography, I’d say that this one is the most brutal death metal one out of all of them, while its predecessors are more old-school death metal influenced. Overall this is a great straightforward, fast sharp shock of brutal death metal. If you're a fan of Internal Bleedings' early work, I’d say give this thing a chance. A very overlooked, under-appreciated release and band.
