Ormgård - Ormblot - 100%

BlakWulfaz, April 20th, 2012

I honestly cannot find anything about this release that I do not like.

This demo is absolutely phenomenal and is one of the best black metal releases I have heard in a very long time. The atmosphere is so dense and cold, you can feel the freezing winter air coming out of the speakers. The best comparison I can give is In The Nightside Eclipse. Yes, it is THAT good.

The instruments are all audible (which was the main problem on the first demo) and sound pristine. I would have to say my favorite part of this release is the vocals. They are so high-pitched and evil that you can't help but be drawn back by how intense they are. Another big favorite is the ambient tracks included. They add a fantastic atmosphere to the music. The songwriting is another great thing about this demo. All the songs just really flow together and you just get lost in the music.

What really drew me to this release was the use of keyboards. Now, I am NOT, I repeat, NOT, a fan of symphonic black metal (aside from ITNSE), but this is how it should be done; tucked away in the back and creating a mood and ambiance, not LOOK HOW EPIC WE ARE (i.e. Dimmu Borgir).

I bought this tape directly from Scythe of Death Productions from Sweden and it came in a very good amount of time for only $8. You really can not go wrong with this. I HIGHLY recommend it.
