Of Infinity - The Essence of Infinity

Darkwave…it’s a title that excites and annoys those on all sides of the equation. From Lacuna Coil to After Forever bands from all over the globe are diving headfirst into this relatively new form of Metal. Some however, should look before they leap.

This is the case with Of Infinity (or oi’ for those associated with the group) who after struggling to find musicians in the vacant and hardcore riddled salt flats of Utah, relocated to Texas to do absolutely nothing. That aside, the tandem of Nazareth and Alessandra did write some decent and Euro sounding Metal, however they had many short comings.

For starters when one listens to this 3 song EP one can’t help but get annoyed by Alessandras’ voice. Her lows and midrange are just fine; she falls flat with her highs however. They sound hollow and forced; her piano playing is what she should stick with. As far as the quality of the music, it sounds good, however there are several instances peppered through out the cd that sound like screw ups.

One last point of contention is the fact that their former Bassist Kurtis isn’t mentioned on the cd at all, when he was very much involved the writing and performing of this cd.

So, this isn’t a long review, but there’s not a lot to tell. The bottom line is, if you’re a diehard Darkwave fan, you could do much better.
