You can't expect much variation in a genre as focused on a specific aesthetic as war metal. Obliterate produces nothing more than what you'd expect, but the anger sounds genuine and this 6 minute release is a pure explosion of downtuned riffs that are actually more coherent than the Revenge or Bestial Warlust catalogue. A lot of the guitar parts actually sound influenced by hardcore punk but still have that black metal edge with a sharp tone and plenty of reverb. The vocals are interesting, as they are high-pitched shrieks that sounds like something from a DSBM band and they are mixed very distantly from the rest of the instruments, giving it a live, organic feeling.

Now we shouldn't pretend that Complete Human Annihilation is that original, a lot of aspects of this EP are directly taken from Revenge like the pick scraps and chromatic solos, both of which sound identical to most of Revenge's songs. The biggest difference that Obliterate shows is probably more of a low-end in their production, with a very full-on and bouncy atmosphere. The drums are buried in the mix, but they aren't really worth mentioning anyway, it's just blast beats mostly with the exception of some fills mimicking the riff transitions. As someone who likes war metal, I think this is great, but I would understand why a lot of people may write it off as a shitty rip-off of bigger bands. It's still worth checking out if you're into the more obscure side of black metal.
