It took me a little bit to eventually love and respect this album the way I do now. At first, I wasn’t such a fan of it. I felt that this was a pretty standard thrash/melodic death metal album. The drumming is kept in either common time or double time. The guitars are heavily, heavily distorted, very chugga-chugga riff oriented, and pretty much play by the thrash metal book as far as style-of-playing goes with some elements of melodic death elements thrown into the mix. There isn’t much to say about the vocals other than they are most certainly not amazing, but they do get the job done. The screaming and growling compliment the music, but do not really add anything to it. So style-wise, I’d say this band lacks originality. However, I must admit--most thrash metal does sound the same to me, so I’m not the best person to judge originality when it comes to thrash metal (just keep that in mind).
Nevertheless, what I believe saves this album 100x are the tremendously catchy riffs in this album. The best part is that every song revolves around one of these catchy melodies and then breaks off and goes onto other, even catchier ones during the same song. There is honestly not one riff or melody in this album I couldn’t have sex to. Yeah, it’s that good.
