Fuck the God in Heaven

Ahhh, another Nunslaughter EP to add to the dozens of other Nunslaughter EPs and releases. These guys seem busy, thats for sure, but if one band really seems to appreciate their fans, its Nunslaughter. With tons of limited quantity releases, this band is certainly geared towards those with a lust for collecting. Surprisingly, unlike most of thier EP's, which are usually released as 7 inches, this one actually did make it to cd! Also, like most of thier highly collectible releases, this one is made special via the shape of the disc, taking the form of a goat's head, adorned on an upside down cross and pentagram.

What we get here is a tasty ten minutes of what we all know to expect from these guys, some serious no frills, old school death metal. These gentleman have shunned progression throughout their entire career, and still continue to pump out release after release of their signature devil metal.

The songs at hand are of the standard Nunslaughter variety, old school death metal with plenty of catchy, head-bangable riffs. The material at hand is particularly strong, and while these four songs are short, they are never the less, very enjoyable. There is some decent variety for such a short release, with plenty of tempo changes, from ripping, punked out thrashiness, to slow and heavy as hell, chugging old school death breakdowns. "From The Sea" is particularly noteworthy, with slow, doomy riffage, giving way to a nearly melodic blasting, speed fest.

The production is great and really clear, with the guitars sounding thick and beefy, making for brutal chugs, as well as the drum tones being really strong. The bass drum and toms are really commanding, soudning very powerful, without being distant or overly booming.

This is a great little gem to add to your Nunslaughter collection, so if you can find it pick it up, as it's kinda hard to find (I managed to snag the last cd copy from a local underground record shop). It's certainly not essential though, as they have dozens of other releases with similar material, but it'll stll be very enjoyable to people who can't get enough of these guys.
