Nihil Nocturne - Necrohell

Necro Fucking Hell - 84%

Danthrax_Nasty, April 27th, 2004

Well first off there are two parts to this album, and they were recorded in two different sessions March/June 03.
Sacrafice:
Songs 1 - 4
Soul:
Songs 5 - 9
This band has a great sound, due to it being produced fairly well. Mixing some what progressive chord structures, with a slightly thrashy, German, black metal grimness. This album has some great riffs and a raw melodic black metal power.

Keyboards are used well in most parts, and are not heavily used on the album as a whole. Mostly to build the atmosphere with in the rythms the guitar is playing. Adds another layer to the atmosphere created by the music. Overall fits the sound well.

I like the vocals alot. On the 9th song Necrotower they really fucking shine, put over a Gorgoroth type quick tempo speed picked chords. There are many parts with multiple vocals screamning, growling, whatever that sound evil as fuck and fit the rythm. Well produced and very up front in the mix. Alot of the lyrics are weird, and not exactly what I would expect, but some lines really stick out like:
-"666, industrial war employer
Terror Satan Hate Modul

Set your enemy on fire
Let them burn and burn and die"-
You conclude.

The guitars vary a bit in styles through out the album, which adds to the replay value I'd say. The fourth song Compact Nothingness Supreme is an awesome fucking song. Its got a very repetitive rythm that kinda builds and flows on it self before breaking into another early Emperor sounding riff(or maybe thats just me). When the fifth song comes on it opens with deep sythns fading in and creating a (dark) harmonous atmosphere before breaking off into gunfire and ramming head on it to a full metal assaulght that kinda reminds me of Judas Iscariot when it first comes in, and then breaks into a slower jam type riff. The sixth song Evil From The Woods has some well done acoustic riffs played in some areas, building well in the dark elements, and then the song moves on to repetitive black metal melodic riffs which the sythns are layered onto its Germanic black hatred. Some killer shit.

The albums cover is blured and all I can really make out is a candle and a face. I am a little less than impressed by this cover, but it certainly doesnt ruin the music any.

Over all I'd say some true fucking metal, and its German, put em together and ...
