The first CD from Necroterror Records, and it’s the re-release of Necrosadist’s 2005 demo. I remember reading something about it when it was re-released, but I think this is the first time I’ve actually heard them. But the demo’s been re-mixed and re-mastered, and the result (from what I’ve heard from people who’ve actually heard the demo) is a much better release.
The production is very grim and bleak, and the sound’s quite low, which makes it sound very old school. But not in the sucky “we’re so bad-arse old school that all you really hear is distortion”-vein, but rather in just a stark atmosphere. The faster parts of the drumming can sound a bit rigid at times, but it’s nothing overwhelming. And it’s not always that said instrument is utterly tight with the string-work, but still nothing that really bothers. What it does is rather give it sort of a punky feeling to it all, an old school Scandinavian crustcore-element, so to speak. But this is surely black metal we’re speaking of, so don’t you worry. It can come off as rather simplistic, and it sort of is, at least music-wise. But what the atmosphere creates is something out of the ordinary. The harsh screaming is at times backed up by a deep, burly growl, sounding as a cave-monster out on a hunting stroll, and this adds a really dark and brutal edge to the tunes. All while the general aura reeks of old school hatred, the unconventional writing adds yet another element to it. So there’s a lot of diversity, and the demo-feeling that’s still there just makes it rather loveable.
"Ageless temporal flesh" ooze of doom, and almost old school death at times. So they’ve definitely added tons of different elements, not worried about stepping away from the typical black metal mould. And ending the CD is a 15 minute long ambient track, divided into three parts, full of melancholic piano playing and with a truly haunting atmosphere. A very unconventional release that could just as well have been recorded in a cave, buried deep inside an ancient forest somewhere.
