Necrodeath - Fragments of Insanity

Thrashy Return - 94%

CHRISTI_NS_ANITY8, June 18th, 2007

Two years after the debut, that became a cult in the underground scene, Necrodeath are back with a new full length. This one is characterised by a more thrashy impact than the first one. The production is quite good, always being quite raw as it is meant to be for the period and for their death/thrash…yes, death/thrash because in this album the black feeling has a bit gone away…let make this clear, I love this album and objectively is a very good one, but something is missing for the atmosphere…

The songs are more complex, always with great thrash riffs and a great drums work, nothing to say. Ingo at the vocals is great as usual, influenced by early death/thrash and a big influence for black metal.
The title, Fragments Of Insanity, is well reflected in the music, because you can feel madness, despair and hate in these songs: schizophrenic riffs, mad vocals and violent drums.

The production makes the band sound clearer and in some ways more violent, but not so “evil” like in the past. Here we have very good songs like "Tanathoid" or "Choose your Death" (with an obscure piano intro) where the group violence is stronger than ever…great thrash assault! But only with the last songs, "Eucharistical Sacrifice" and "Enter My Subconscious" (with a great acoustic guitar break), we return a bit to the past of the group, where songs seemed to be from another world, an occult one.

I would like to say, over and over again, that this is not a BAD album, not at all! I like this one very much! It depends on what you want to listen to…if you want an orgy of occult early black/thrash sounds take the first Necrodeath album, but if you’re searching for a great violent schizophrenic assault, buy this one! They are both great albums, each one in its way.
